I was fortunate enough to have run into Wendy on my last visit home to Dallas. It was Easter break of this year and we walked right into each other at Northpark. Wendy was smiling, as usual, and gave me a hug as if we were the oldest of friends. I remember this most because we had not seen each other for at least a year and I was affected by the ease at which we caught up on each other's lives. That was Wendy. She asked thought provoking questions and gave insightful answers. She was pursuing what she loved: photography Her smiling face and contagious laughter at Hockaday will always bring a smile to my face. She was my inspiration and teacher in photography and will continue to be.

I recommend that the Class of '96 establish the Wendy Soltero Award or Scholarship Fund for Photography at Hockaday so others might learn what Wendy thrived on...creativity and being herself.

To the Soltero Family, may you find peace in knowing that Wendy touched the lives of all around her and her memory will live on in our hearts.
